Tamarack Hollow Nature & Cultural Center Saturday May 11th 10am-12:30pm Mindful Outdoor Experience in the Boreal Forest at the Tamarack Hollow Nature & Cultural Center in Windsor, MA led by board member and Kripalu School for Mindful Outdoor Leadership guide Vicki Zacharewicz. Using elements of forest bathing, meditation and mindful movement, we will take time to breathe and appreciate the gifts of the more than human world. We'll use all our senses to connect to the present moment and just Be. This unique approach is proven to reduce stress and increase wellbeing. Our relaxing saunter in the woodlands will lead us to a cascading waterfall. We'll spend some time in silence and wanderers are encouraged to disconnect from their electronic devices. Tamarack Hollow Nature & Cultural Center Saturday June 8th (rain date June 9th) from 10am-12:30pm Plant and Tree Walk at the D.A.R. State Forest, Goshen, MA. Join Naturalist and Director of the Tamarack Hollow Nature and Cultural Center in Windsor, MA for an easy plant and tree ID walk on a 1 mile round trip walk on the accessible nature trail. Experience this stunning Hemlock forest along the shores of upper highland lake and learn how to identify both coniferous and deciduous trees and late spring plants and flowers in bloom. Info about flora uses, wild edibles and cultural context will be shared. The hike will conclude with a .5 mile round trip walk up the road from the trailhead to the bird blind over the marsh and to the nature center. Program is free, donations accepted. This easy hike led by Naturalist and Tamarack Hollow Director Aimee Gelinas M.Ed will follow the Housatonic River and will feature riverbank, forest and floodplain ecology. Participants will learn about the flora (plants, trees, wild edibles), the fauna (signs of wildlife) and cultural history of this unique conservation land along the Housatonic River.
